Context and Discovery
The fragment was found in Gotlands Museum storage without bearing an inventory number or further information.

Measurements, Material and Condition
This fragment preserves the upper left corner of an early-type picture stone. It comprises 62 cm of the original left lateral edge, which is clearly concave, an approximately 30 cm long part of the convex upper edge, and the characteristic accentuated corner in between. The other edges of the fragment are broken edges. Another small, well-fitting and very probably related fragment (GP 304 Unknown Find Spot) extends the upper edge by about another 30 cm (GF C11000 – in Lamm’s list the inventory number C11001 is noted, but this is an error). The preserved narrow sides are evenly worked. The left narrow side is hewn straight at right angles to the stone’s obverse, the upper narrow side is slightly bevelled. Between the left and upper narrow sides and the obverse there seems to have been a narrow chamfer, but this is now quite abraded. The monument’s obverse is absolutely flat but appears unworked and seems to have been heavily textured originally. Now it is very worn and weathered. The carvings are still clearly visible when illuminated appropriately. The limestone slab is circa 15 cm thick.

Description of Ornament and Images
Two slightly raised, parallel stripes are carved out along the lateral edge to form the border decoration. This border also appears to run along the upper convex edge. Below the upper border, however, there are two additional raised lines of this kind, spaced about 10 cm apart, so that two horizontal, but slightly curved fields are formed. These may have been filled with an ornament pattern, although hardly anything of it can be discerned today.

Interpretation of the Imagery
No interpretation

Type and Dating
The fragment belongs to a tall early-type picture stone, i.e., Type A according to Lindqvist’s typology, dating between AD 400 and 600. The layout of the border decoration and the proportions of the monument correspond to the type A stones GP 537 Vallstena Vallstenarum I and GP 554 Väskinde kyrka 5 (regarding the Vallstenagruppe see Lindqvist 1941/42 I, p. 28).
