Context and Discovery
In the 1939 inventory, the stone is recorded as being kept in a garden about 100 m South-Southwest of Halla church and circa 4 m south of the school building. However, the actual find place, according to the inventory book, is located about 120 m south-southwest of the garden. The stone was unearthed on the farmstead of Hallegårda (1:15), just south of the cow barn. In the 1979 inventory it is noted that the monument has been moved to Gotlands Museum, where it is kept today. The stone is not documented in Lindqvist’s book.

Measurements, Material and Condition
The limestone slab is 66 cm high, 39 cm wide, and about 5 cm thick. The entire picture stone is preserved, including the root, but broken across the width, in the middle. The stone’s surface is abraded, only the main parts of the decoration are still discernible.

Description of Ornament and Images
The framing of the edge border and parts of its decoration on the stone’s base and right-hand edge (i.e., a geometrized twisted cord pattern) are discernible. In the head field of the stone, a simple ship image with towering stems, a mast and a small tabloid sail can be seen.

Interpretation of the Imagery
No interpretation

Type and Dating
Middle-type picture stone, which means a Type B ʻdwarf stoneʼ, dating between AD 500 and 700. The monument belongs to the group of Type B stones featuring a convex head with corners protruding horizontally. GP 147 Halla Broa X, is a good parallel in shape and decoration, as well as many other dwarf stones which are gathered in Lindqvist’s (1941/42 I, p. 37) Stenstugruppe.
