Context and Discovery The stele was discovered in 1943 during M. Stenberger’s excavation on the cemetery in between Stora- and Lilla Ire. It was found in secondary use as part of a stone circle on top of the 11th century grave no. 238. HS
Measurements, Material and Condition The limestone slab is exhibited at Gotlands Museum. Stenberger's drawing shows that the stele has a preserved root, which is now covered by a wooden base. Above the root, Hellvi Ire 7 is 0.97 m tall. Despite its intact condition, it is hard to see whether the stele once had chamfered edges, as typical for the A-stones. The surface is quite uneven which could either be a consequence of less neat work or natural surface deterioration. HS
